Different modes of communications are used for different purposes today because of the advancement in the latest communications technology. Some of the very imperative modes of communication used are, the wireless LAN, radio, television, radar, point to point radio communication, space exploration etc. Satellites are used for transmitting and receiving data for these modes of communication. The transducer used in this process is called an aerial or antennae. These aerials are used outside, below the water or in outer space to help receive and send data from and to a communication system. Radio antennas differ in size according to the type of system used. Military radio systems are highly powerful and the need for a similarly powerful aerial is very imperative. Military radio aerials are what will give an undeterred communication link.
What kind of radio communication is used in the military services? Amateur radios are used mostly within the military and for other emergency communication needs. Usually any other radio communication is dependant of terrestrial facilities but amateur radios are not dependant on it, as it might sometimes fail. Aerials are used to improvise the signals and thus non stop performance is enabled at all times and from all places. The amateur radio is also used at times of disaster to aid in the disaster relief works. It is also used during war time activities or during terrorist attacks. It is also used for commercial safety of very big companies or shopping malls or research institutions. Military radio antennas are very powerfully installed to meet the diverse needs of the military forces. The safety issues in using these systems and their related applications are very important. Whenever a war breaks the enemy forces generally try to attack the communication networks of their opponent. They target the antennas and try isolating the military forces from contacting their other peers. One of the smartest wartime strategies has always been destroying all modes of communication of the enemy.
For a military communication network no signal or transmission of the data is very imperative. Antennas and aerials are used for this purpose. Antennas usually are termed as huge metal structures used as transceivers. Whereas an aerial is generally a wire structure and it can either be a vertical or horizontal aerial. Whatever the name or structure its primary function is to transmit and receive radio frequency. The aerials radiate radio signals in different patterns. 360 degree signals are sent all around from say a single vertical aerial. Mobile aerials are also used in cars and trucks.
Military communication aerials frequent reception and their capacity depends on the type of communication system used. The signal strength must be uninterrupted and must be transmitted or received even in remote places like under ground bunkers, caves or in remote locations. So for base stations huge antennas are used whereas aerials that can be set up easily anywhere are used for other purposes. The role of an antenna or aerial is military communication is thus very crucial and important.
